The story had a few twists and turns and our first meeting did not include a hospital visit … but that’s life, and I’m always prepared for plan changes 😉

Marili contacted me waaaaaay ahead of time to schedule her maternity shoot.  She was beyond thrilled about it, and as the day neared, her career as a doctor threw some other plans her way.  She had to take a shift and we had to reschedule the session.  We still had time, plenty of time!  None of us were worried – except for Chris who had been telling her to maybe get a bag packed, because you never know.  He was right.

The weekend of that shift, she went into labour and had been flown out of Slave Lake to the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton.  Their baby boy was born very early (he was to come at the end of June!) weighing just over 5 lbs.  Marili sent me a message apologizing for having to cancel (not that she could control when baby was coming ;)) and if I would be able to come to the hospital after he was removed from the breathing tubes.  What an honor.  It was an immediate yes.

I met these three that day, in the hospital.  Two of THE SWEETEST people you will probably ever meet.  That tiny room was blowing at the seams with love and adoration for the little man that made them a family of three – the little man that had Marili celebrating mothers day a year early.  I can’t begin to explain the gratitude I have for people who have never even met me to welcome me in with an exuberant amount of trust to photograph such tender moments in their lives.  I can’t wait to see you three again soon to do your in-home newborn session.

World.  Meet Marc.  He’s tiny, but boy has he made a large mark on his new parents.
